Since yesterday, Erica and I have been eating our way around the Sunshine Coast. Here’s the low down on where to eat near RollerCon Down Under.

First up, India Today. Going to this place is an experience. It begins with something akin to a rebirthing ceremony as you enter through the inviting vaginal entranceway. The visual feast doesn’t end there – every wall is adorned with paintings, tapestries, sculpture and fabric. So is the ceiling!

The food is great. I especially recommend the Vegetable Makalha (sp?). This dish is vegetables in the usual Butter Chicken sauce. Freaking delicious.

If you check this place out, take a cardi coz they’re pumping some serious air con in there!

The Green Stuff Cafe is a 20-30 minute walk along the boardwalk from RollerCon. The staff are great and the food is made with love. The owner makes the baked beans from scratch and the potato rostis are decadant.

We didn’t have room to try the muffins but we learnt they’re made using food grade essential oils rather than essences. Erica and I will be going back to give those a go before we leave the Sunshine Coast.

I’ve saved the best until last: It’s Rawsome! Cafe

You’ll need a car to get here from Caloundra but it’s so worth the effort. They do fresh juices, savoury meals, cakes and smoothies – all using raw vegan products. They don’t use refined sugar either. The cakes are ridiculously fluffy but don’t bother asking how they get them like that or you’ll be gently but firmly informed that it’s a trade secret. Make sure you try the raw cacao hazelnut milk or the pina colada juice: coconut water, pineapple juice and lemongrass.
