You play an empowering sport. But do you play it in clothing manufactured in sweatshops? Where does your consumer dollar go?

I’ve played derby for a while and this thought had never occurred to me. So I set about researching it.

There’s an Australian website called Shop Ethical. This is what they have to say about various sportswear brands.

So, basically, if you want to support a fairly ethical business, then Lululemon is your only option.

If you want to support ethically neutral businesses that are Australian owned, then head to Lorna Jane, Running Bare, Everlast, Slazenger or Calvin Klein Performance.

Of course, Shop Ethical doesn’t look at the little guys.

If you want to know without a doubt that your product will be manufactured in Australia (international options later) with profits remaining here, try a small derby-specific business. Here are some options:
